Este art\u00edculo muy interesante salido en el New York Times<\/a>, mi peri\u00f3dico favorito cuenta sobre un estudio cient\u00edfico que relativiza la homosexualidad femenina. El estudio que copio abajo en ingl\u00e9s muestra algo que muchos hemos ya visto, que a las mujeres que no son homosexuales…. a veces les gustan otras mujeres. Meredith Chivers de la Universidad de Toronto dise\u00f1\u00f3 un ingenioso experimento en el cual se le ense\u00f1aban fotos a mujeres no homosexuales en las que se ve\u00edan hombres desnudos pero realizando actividades no especialmente er\u00f3ticas y mujeres enrolladas con mujeres y se med\u00eda la respuesta sexual. El resultado es que las mujeres se exitaban seg\u00fan el nivel de erotismo y no el g\u00e9nero de los participantes. Personalmente me ha pasado de ver mujeres, amigas, conocidas m\u00edas, besarse apasionadamente en fiestas o discotecas sin ser homosexuales (es decir teniendo parejas con hombres y gustandole principalmente los hombres). Esto es algo que a\u00fan no he visto entre hombres no homosexuales. Otro tema que considero cercano a este es el tema de las modelos y las actrices. La mayor\u00eda de los hombres vemos muchas actrices, en la tele y el cine, y pocas modelos. Las modelos principalmente le venden productos y ropas a mujeres y aparecen en general en revistas femeninas. Por eso cuando las mujeres dicen que los hombres tenemos la culpa de querer mujeres muy flacas yo siento que est\u00e1n totalmente equivocados. Basta ver un calendario en un taller mec\u00e1nico para entender que a los hombres no nos gustan las anor\u00e9xicas, ni las especialmente flacas. La est\u00e9tica de las modelos es una est\u00e9tica de mujer orientada a la mujer. Esta investigaci\u00f3n muestra m\u00e1s por qu\u00e9. Las mujeres responden al erotismo, nosotros…. a las mujeres.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor heterosexual women,\u201d a researcher, Meredith Chivers, says in a new documentary about bisexuality called \u201cBi the Way,\u201d which was shown at the NewFest film festival in New York last Friday, \u201clooking at a naked man walking on the beach is about as exciting as looking at landscapes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Chivers, a research fellow at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health at the University of Toronto, says she has data to support this assertion. She recently published results of a study in which she showed people video clips of naked men and women in various sexual and nonsexual situations and measured their genital arousal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Heterosexual women, Dr. Chivers and her colleagues found, were no more excited by athletic naked men doing yoga or tossing stones into the ocean than they were by the control footage: long pans of the snowcapped Himalayas. When straight women viewed a video of a naked woman doing calisthenics, on the other hand, their blood flow increased significantly.<\/em><\/p>\n

What really matters to women, Dr. Chivers said, at least in the somewhat artificial setting of watching movies while intimately hooked up to a device called a photoplethysmograph, is not the gender of the actor, but the degree of sensuality. Even more than the naked exercisers, they were aroused by videos of masturbation, and more still by graphic videos of couples making love. Women with women, men with men, men with women: it did not seem to matter much to her female subjects, Dr. Chivers said.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWomen physically don\u2019t seem to differentiate between genders in their sex responses, at least heterosexual women don\u2019t,\u201d she said. \u201cFor heterosexual women, gender didn\u2019t matter. They responded to the level of activity.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
